Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the beginning of another exciting new term at East View Public School. Winter is in the air and we have many new activities for students and parents.

Sports and activities offered this term include: Girls' Ringette, Sr. & Jr. Boys' basketball, Sr. Girls' volleyball, Primary & Junior Floor Hockey and Gr. 3 & 4 intramural basketball. We also have a school newspaper and chess club(grades 1-8). Bon Soo (late January) is a winter activity that we participate in every year. Other classroom activities include: grade 3 & 4 gym club, grade 7 & 8 visit Searchmont for snowboarding and skiing and a school skate at the Rankin Arena on March 8 for grade JK-6.

We have an After School Program (ages 4-10) as well as an Afternoon Day Care (ages 3-5) at East View. We will enclose an information sheet looking for interest in these programs.

Our milk program (daily) and pizza days (Wednesdays) and pre-ordered hot lunches on Fridays.

Accompanying this note is a set of forms to be completed for each student. please return as soon as possible. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE HAVE THIS UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION, ESPECIALLY EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBERS.

We are asking for your assistance this year as we will all concentrate on two main areas of growth: an emphasis on manners and respect for each other (Character Education) as well as reducing the number of lates and absences. Please call the school if your child will be late or absent from school.

Each month we promote on a different character attribute. We celebrate this attribute at the Student of the Month Assembly and we share our successes with staff and students. The following attribute for November is CITEZENSHIP.

In conclusion, I would like to once again stress that our effort to serve our students well and communicate effectively with our parents will continue. I look forward to meeting all of our parents at our Talent Show coming in May and our Family Barbeque in early June. If you have any questions or concerns please call the school and let us know how we can help you.

Sincerely,

Mr. Steve Bodnar
Principal
