East View P.S Uniform/Dress Policy

 

The compulsory uniform dress code policy is designed to give East View Public School students.

-A unique and recognizable image

- A sense of collective identity

- A standard of grooming and dress that reflects respect for self and others

The Basic uniform consists of a R.J. McCarthy white or navy Polo shirt

Basics are:

- Crested long sleeved Navy or white polo shirt

-Crested short sleeve Navy or white polo shirt

- Crested 1/4 zip navy sweatshirt

Accessories include East View Gym T-shirt (navy only)

Requirements

1. Students are to be in full uniform for the entire school day including school sponsored activities and field trips during regular school hours. This includes noon hour while students are on school property.

2. Crested white/navy polo shirts purchased from R.J. McCarthy's Ltd. may be worn alone or under crested 1/4 zip navy sweatshirt.

3. Crested Polo shirts may be worn tucked in or loose providing they are a resonable length .

4. No sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies etc. Other than approved school uniforms items may be worn with the uniform. Team items and 'Spirit Wear' are not part of the school uniform and are not to be worn during the school day.

5. Students who are not in proper school uniform will not be admitted to class. If a student is not admitted to class, he or she is responsible for all work missed and any tests that are missed will be assigned a mark of zero at the disscretion of the teacher or the principal.

6. If a student is not in proper school uniform, parents will be responsible for bringing the necessary uniform items to school, or the student will be sent home for the day. Repeated violations of the dress code will be viewed as opposition to authority and may result in suspension.

Three strikes plus one:

1st strike: Shirt provided - verbal warning

2nd strike: Call home to change and either sent home of the parent brings the uniform to school - letter to follow

3rd strike: Detention or removal of school privelidges - letter to follow

4th strike: In school detention- letter to follow

All uniforms must fit properly. Students will be required to re-purchase pieces that are too large, too small, or have been altered in unnacceptable ways. Ripped torn, frayed, or hemless clothing is also not acceptable.

7. Out of uniform days will be as follows:

- Dress down days

- Spirit days (to be identified by school)

- Please note that on these days clothing with suggestive language or which promote the use of drugs or alcohol by word, or illistration are not acceptable. The wearing of such clothing will result in the student being sent home to change.

8. At all times, school administration reserves the right to decide if clothing and or appearence complies with the policy and the image of the school.
