Code of Conduct
Responsibilities of Our School Community
Attendance and Punctuality
Our School community will demonstrate and encourage punctuality and regular attendance. Consequences will range from letter of warning to after school detentions.
Classroom/School Rules
Our school community will follow the school rules, Board Policies and Procedures as established
Respect for Self, Others and Authority
Our school community will demonstrate and encourage cooperative and courteous behaviour, respecting the right's of self and others
Honesty
Our school community will demonstrate and encourage honesty and fair play. This will include plagerism on school assignments/tests and fair play during extra-curricular activities.
Safe Environment
"A SAFE SCHOOL IS A SHARED
RESPONSIBILITY"
Our school community will demonstrate and encourage a safe,
non-threatening environment free from harassment, bullying, physical, sexual,
verbaland emotional abuse.
Dangerous Items
Our school community will demonstrate and will not tolerate possission of any weapon or dangerous items as outlined in the Safe School's Policy.
Inter-Racial Respect
Everyone will demonstrate and encourage understanding, respect, fairness and acceptance for all cutures within our school community and promote racial, ethnic, cutural and religious equity. Diversity is one of our school's most precious assets.
Bus Expectations/Field Trips
Students are expected to behave at all times in a courteous and orderly manner. Should problems arise parents will receive notification via our Bus Safety Communication Sheet. Consequences for inappropriate behaviour range from warnings to suspension from use of the bus.
Range of Consequences
The range of consequences does have a progressive order. The severity of the incident, the age of the person involved and the number of times the behaviour has occurred will affect the consequence.
- Discussion/Warning about the incident with the teacher/principal
- Call parents -- letter of apology/restitution
- Loss of privileges/ Time out "think paper"
- Recess detention/counsellor
- In-school suspension
- Suspension
- Formal meetings with parents
